B65-641 RATCHETING BRACE. Pedersen Patent. Covered by two patents, both issued in 1885 to Johannes T. Pedersen of Brooklyn, who held several other patents, one for the sliding chuck (a variation on the Barber) and the other for his unique ratchet mechanism, in which the grip is geared to turn the bit, both rated A in Pearson. Braces with Pedersen's patents were marketed by the American Bit-Brace Co., but this one is marked as being manufactured by J. T. Pedersen & Co. 10" sweep, some light surface rust but overall very clean. From the collection of Jim and Christa Schoenky. Good+ 300-600
