B65-520 EARLY EUROPEAN IRON PLANE. Wrought iron body with 3-3/8" soldered sole, square heel and toe, decorative edge, 1-1/2" cutter that curves over at the top to form a pushing surface. Wooden wedge is held by an iron rod peened at the ends. Part of Cliff Sapienza's collection of fifteenth and sixteenth century planes from the alpine area of Northern Italy and Switzerland. Overall surface rust, but in fine condition for its age, a museum quality example of the earliest days of European iron tools. Good 200-400
