b61-231 TOOL CHEST. One of the most elaborately decorated chests we've ever seen. There are three cabinets in the lid, four lidded compartments around the edge of the interior, and at total of ten nesting boxes, all lavishly inlaid with exotic wood panels including ebony, boxwood, maple, rosewood, and probably some others we don't recognize. It has all of its original hardware, including pulls and hinges, but needs a chain to hold the lid open. The exterior is pine, giving little hint of the wonders inside, 40" by 25" and 28" with six original ring handles, two locks (no keys) and a brass plaque with the name of C.E. Roberson of Auburn, California. Among other things, Don Rosebrook loved elaborate tool chests, and this was the prize of his collection. Simply breathtaking. Fine 6000-12000
