B-114. INFILL SHOULDER PLANE. J. Popping. Cast brass shoulder plane with sweated steel sole by Joseph Popping, one of the rare US makers of infills, who were clustered in New York in the late 1800s. The cutter, rather than the body, is marked, which was typical, but the design is consistent with other Popping planes. 6-1/2" sole, 1" cutter, very tight mouth, rosewood infill, user name stamped on toe.
