B66-661 METAL PLOW PLANE. Phillips Patent. Type 1 of Russell Phillips' groundbreaking 1867 patent, with partial rosewood trim and unmarked skate (left example in plate 16 of PTAMPIA I). Wood very clean, japanning intact; thumbscrew locking the fence is different from what we've seen and possibly an old replacement. Includes five original single-ended cutters.
