B66-54 CHECK PROTECTOR. Hoggson & Pettis "Standard." Back in the early day of paper checks, check protectors were used to punch raised or perforated numbers to prevent forgery. Hoggson & Pettis was a New Haven company that patented and sold one of the earliest versions. It had a cast iron body with a sliding punch, 9" by 5" and 7" high.
