B65-718 LOCKING ADJUSTABLE BEVEL. St. Johnsbury Tool Co. Good example of the brass and rosewood model of the "diamond bevels", patented by Isaiah Robinson and manufactured in St. Johnsbury, VT. This is the longest version, with a 15" blade and 9" handle, and includes the sliding thumb piece that allows it to be locked at a 90 degree angle to form a square, which was the feature of Robinson's second patent. Bevels with this feature are far less common than the regular bevels (which are rare enough). Wood and brass very clean. From the collection of Steve Dice. Fine 800-1600
