B65-691 SIKES HYDROMETER. Farrow & Jackson. Sikes Hydrometers, invented by and named after Bartholomew Sikes, were used by the excise to measure the alcohol content of liquids. This example has a full set of nine weights with the same serial number, the hydrometer float, and an ivory proof rule marked "Farrow & Jackson London & Paris" on the edge, lightly yellowed. Missing the thermometer. In its original fitted case with a missing cartouche in the lid. Good+ 100-200
