B65-660 JACK PLANE. Sandusky No. 13SC IOB. Part of the line of "semi-steel" bench planes manufactured by Sandusky in the 1920s and based on Schwer's 1928 patent for a simplified adjustment mechanism. 14" corrugated sole, 2" cutter, stained maple tote and knob. Some crackling on the knob, otherwise mint. Patented in 1928 by Wilbert Schwer, the secretary of Sandusky, it has a single large nut that serves both as a depth adjustment and lateral, and proved to be an historical dead end from the otherwise respected Sandusky company. We've seen a few of these, but this is the first one in the box. The end of the box lid with the label is partially detached but present, and the box is otherwise intact with original waxed paper. Fine 300-600
