B65-650 JACK PLANE. Hardy Patent. Nice example of the very uncommon plane with large holes in the sole to reduce friction, 15" long, patented in 1872 by Cyrus Hardy of Boston and manufactured by the Boston Metallic Plane Co. Unlike most, the body isn't cracked. There is a large chip from the end of the tote and the screw protrudes in a suspicious manner. Nice nickel plated lever cap with typical geometric design, Moulson Bros. cutter and chip breaker. From the collection of Harold Unruh. Good+ 300-600
