B65-543 IRON PLOW PLANE. This thing bears a haunting resemblance to the Russell Phillips patent, but is completely unmarked. The cutter holder, sliding fence, and tote are almost identical. It's too similar to be a coincidence, and we'd like to believe its a prototype of some kind, but it could also be a ripoff by a talented individual maker. Japanned cast iron with 8-1/2" skate with a series of holes drilled in it to attach something, rosewood tote and fill on the fence. One cutter, which also looks like Philips but without the side handle. Whatever it is, it's intriguing and well made, with japanning mostly intact and no damage to the wood. From the collection of David Jeffers. Good+ 200-400
