B65-502 INFILL SHOULDER PLANE. J. Popping. Brass shoulder plane by Joseph Popping, one of the rare US makers of infills, who were clustered in New York in the late 1800s. The iron, rather than the body, is marked, which was typical, but the design is consistent with other Popping planes and identical to PTAMPIA II Plate 39b. 7-3/4" sweated steel sole, 1-1/4" iron with ebony pad screwed to the end, ebony knob, decorative cap screw that Popping purchased from Leonard Bailey. Brass clean and never polished, wood like new. A very rare and attractive plane. Fine 500-1000
