B65-475 DRAFTING TOOL Kimber Cleaver Protractor. Brass, 5-1/4" square, with an inner divided circle with fine vernier adjustment and four spring-loaded marking pins. Cleaver was a preeminent mining engineer in the Pennsylvania coal region who is credited with a number of inventions and innovations, but apparently held no patents. This one, like most, was made by the Philadelphia firm of Wm. J. Young. In immaculate condition in its original mahogany box. For an uncommon variation on Cleaver's design, see Lot 483. From the collection of Chuck Morgan. Fine 500-1000
