B65-448 MORTISE GAUGE. Nicholls No. 17. Gimmicky gauge with nested sliding rods and two serrated marking wheels in addition to the point, patented in 1911 by Albert Harvie of Ottumwa, IA, and manufactured by Nicholls Tool, also of Ottumwa. Has the "Pat. Appl." mark cast into the head of the early model. Nice clean example of an uncommon gauge with a couple of small patches of missing nickel. Good+ 80-160
