B65-366 UNIVERSAL JOINT BRACE. Derlon Patent. Arthur Derlon's brace designed to bore holes in close quarters was patented in his native France, and in Belgium and Great Britain, as well as the US. This is a very uncommon example of the early British version, patented by Arthur Tattersal of Accrington, whose name is cast into the frame, under a license from Derlon. Unlike later versions, its frame is plain cast iron without plating, and the grip is a simple copper sheath. It has the word "Patent" cast in raised letters. There is a crack in the wooden knob, and the chuck mechanism is missing. From the collection of Jim and Christa Schoenky. Good 150-300
