B65-346 RABBET PLANE. S.C. Tatum & Co. Patented by George Hilles on 6/30/84 and sold by Samuel Tatum of Cincinnati. A handful of these are known, with different configurations. This one resembles the one shown in Figure 173 of PTAMPIA I except that it doesn't have the depth stop or the protrusion that supports it, or the patent date. It looks like it was made this way, and other examples have some variations in design. Nice and clean, with 100% japanning. From the collection of David Jeffers. Fine 300-600
