B65-178 JACK PLANE. Union Manufacturing No. X5C. Based on Carleton & Trask's 1904 patent with vertical post adjustment and equivalent to the Stanley No. 5. Uncommon corrugated sole. Minor chips to tote and edge of sole. Original cutter with a little rust, japanning and wood immaculate. From the collection of Ray Schmidt. Fine 100-200
