York2024-447. DEALER LOT OF WASHER CUTTERS Before the advent of the metal washer, washers were typically cut out of thin leather, and cushioned the surface under wheel hubs. There were a number of patents for the devices used to cut washers, and the late Hank Allen painstakingly collected and labelled nine examples, including patents by Smith and King (10/24/65) (two examples, one made by Otis Smith and the other by Savage & Smith, Brule (10/11/75), Appleton (5/30/76), Gruger (4/16/67) (two examples, one marked with patent date), Pennie (9/6/59), Cooper (4/25/82), and Woodward (8/24/75). The Woodward patent is in its original box, and the patent date given is actually for Woodward's paper cutter. A fabulous collection all very clean. Good+ 400-800
