B63-200. GERMAN PLOW PLANE. Joh. Weiss & Sohn. Typical European design with nuts on both sides of the fence. The body and cutter holding mechanism are cast iron, with a brass full length depth stop, and both body and depth stop are marked "Joh. Weiss & Sohn, Wien, Patent 1881." Weiss was a leading tool maker in Vienna (Wien) founded in 1820; their 1908 catalog contains several similar plow planes but doesn't identify the patentee. Nuts appear to be hornbeam, some chips on threaded arms, Peugeot Freres cutter. From the collection of Steve Dice. Good+ 300-600
