Vaughan & Bushnell No. 905C IOB. V&B's equivalent of the Stanley No. 5C, near mint condition, original waxed wrapping paper, box scuffed but intact with good label. Fine 100-200B65-6651970-01-01T00:00:00+01:001970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00/auction/list-auctions/viewbids/14106/b65-665B65-665 JACK PLANE. Shapleigh DE5 IOB. Probably made by Stanley for the Diamond Edge line sold by Shapleigh Hardware Co. of St. Louis. The plane is mint and unused, with gold-painted hardware and marked cutter, a small patch of surface corrosion on the left cheek. Box has significant wear and split seams but intact with label partly obscured by tape. Fine 150-300B65-6641970-01-01T00:00:00+01:001970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00/auction/list-auctions/viewbids/14105/b65-664B65-664 SMOOTHING PLANE. Union No. X4 IOB. Based on Carleton & Trask's 1904 patent with vertical post adjustment and equivalent to the Stanley No. 4. Mint, unused condition with original marked cutter. In original waxed wrapping paper; box is fully intact but label is very worn and barely legible. Fine 120-240B65-6631970-01-01T00:00:00+01:001970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00/auction/list-auctions/viewbids/14104/b65-663B65-663 OPEN THROAT ROUTER PLANE. Sargent No. 62 IOB. Box includes two cutters, the plain cutter clamp and the one with the extension to hold a throat closer, with the throat closer rod but not the shoe. Nickel plating is a little dull but intact with no rust or peeling, wooden knobs near fine. The box is worn but intact with complete label, includes packing paper. But for that missing throat closer shoe this would easily rate fine. Good+ 80-160B65-6621970-01-01T00:00:00+01:001970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00/auction/list-auctions/viewbids/14103/b65-662B65-662 LOT OF TWO SAFETY AXES. Marble's No. 2 IOB. 9" version of the hatchet with blade guard that folds into the handle marketed by the Marbles Arms Co. as the "Safety Axe." Steel handle with Bakelite grips. The two axes are mint, and the box is intact with 90% label. First ones we've ever seen in the box. From the collection of Chuck Morgan. Fine 400-800B65-6611970-01-01T00:00:00+01:001970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00/auction/list-auctions/viewbids/14102/b65-661B65-661 PLOUGH PLANE. Rapier No. 3 IOB. Only 5-1/2" long and described by Chris Schwarz as the "entry level drug" for plow planes, ideal for cutting grooves for drawers. A few minor scuffs to the nickel plating but no rust or peeling, has its original three cutters in pasteboard sleeve plus a few others loose in the box, box is worn with some split seams but intact label. Good+ 100-200B65-6601970-01-01T00:00:00+01:001970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00/auction/list-auctions/viewbids/14101/b65-660B65-660 JACK PLANE. Sandusky No. 13SC IOB. Part of the line of "semi-steel" bench planes manufactured by Sandusky in the 1920s and based on Schwer's 1928 patent for a simplified adjustment mechanism. 14" corrugated sole, 2" cutter, stained maple tote and knob. Some crackling on the knob, otherwise mint. Patented in 1928 by Wilbert Schwer, the secretary of Sandusky, it has a single large nut that serves both as a depth adjustment and lateral, and proved to be an historical dead end from the otherwise respected Sandusky company. We've seen a few of these, but this is the first one in the box. The end of the box lid with the label is partially detached but present, and the box is otherwise intact with original waxed paper. Fine 300-600B65-6591970-01-01T00:00:00+01:001970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00/auction/list-auctions/viewbids/14100/b65-659B65-659 MORTISE GAUGE. W. Marples & Sons IOB. Ultimatum style gauge with 6-1/2" brass stem, oval rosewood head with brass plate and complete decal. The tool is in mint condition, box is worn but intact with complete label. It has "No. 2140" written in pencil, not sure if this is a serial or model number. We've seen plenty of Marples mortise gauges but this is the first one we've had in the box, or in this type of condition.
