B-490 INFILL MITRE PLANE. J. Popping. Low angle mitre plane by Joseph Popping, one of the rare US makers of infills, who were clustered in New York in the late 1800s. 7-1/4" cast steel body, rosewood infill and pad screwed to 1-1/2" Buck Bros. cutter stamped on top by Popping. Cutter and nosepiece have assembly number. Virtually identical to the plane shown in Plate 30a of PTAMPIA II. Near mint.
