B-347 PATENTED BENCH PLANE. Louis Rodier. Very uncommon Type 1, with the vertically mounted coil spring adjustment. (PTAMPIA I, Figure 225). Rodier's patent was for his adjustment mechanism, intended to simultaneously regulate the set of the cutter and the width of the mouth, but his planes are best known for their corrugated sides and the serpentine grooves cast into the sole. This one is in the 9" jack size, with a Buck Bros. cutter. From the John and Janet Wells collection.Fine 800-1200 NOTE: Absentee bidding ends 5:00pm EST on Friday, March 29, 2019.
