Patented by Albert Hight in 1906 during his sojourn in Ballard, WA, shortly before he returned to his native Cleveland and became a major inventor of levels. Sheet metal, with a locking lever in the handle, a fold-out bevel arm, and a series of holes along the blade to use to mark different lines. Marked, consistent with other known examples, as manufactured by the Ballard Drop Forge Co. and "patent applied for."
