B-190 COMBINED SQUARE AND BEVEL. William Winterbottom. Very rare example of the combined square and bevel patented by William Winterbottom on 1868. William's brother Charles subsequently patented the different design that was acquired by Stanley and became the basis for the Stanley No. 2. 4" wide unruled blade, 4" rosewood handle with brass edge and trefoil escutcheon. Stamped with Winterbottom's name and the patent date, and also marked with three owner stamps.
